Basic Safety Training - Basic Course is a basic course you must have in order to work offshore as oil workers, regardless of your position. General information about Basic Safety Training (English) (OBS1052)
Target GroupPersonnel working on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. Please note that this course is held in English.
ObjectiveTo enable the delegates to protect their safety in an emergency situation and promote safe behaviour. The participant should be motivated to promote a better and safer working environment. Emphasis is placed on preventive measures that can avoid injuries to people, the environment and equipment. After completing the course, the participants should have basic knowledge and skills relating to:
HSE culture and correct safety behaviour.
Helicopter evacuation (HUET).
Prevention of work accidents.
Collective means of evacuation.
Use of relevant fire/rescue equipment.
Correct use of survival suit with emergency breathing system.
The course aims to create positive attitudes to the term HSE culture, as well as understanding for the social and physical working environments significance for life, health and values in work as well as recreational time.
Course ContentsThe course follows the training guidelines issued by Norwegian Oil and Gas for safety and emergency preparedness training.
Collective evacuation by means of lifeboat and Escape chute.
HSE culture and behaviour.
PrerequisitesNone. When you enrol in the course, you will receive a link to an e-learning module. This must be completed before you start the course. On the first day, a multiple choice test based on the e-learning will be completed.
ExaminationWritten exam. The participants have to actively take part in both theoretical and practical exercises.

The airport bus to Stavanger city center. Line 1 to Hundvågveien, approx. 22 min. Then walk for approx. 13 min.
From Sola Airport approx. 30 min. ➤ Take the Rv509 and E39 to the center of Stavanger. Take the freeway to the end and keep right towards the center. Continue on Rv509. Drive straight ahead in the next three roundabout and through the tunnel (Bergeland tunnel). After this, turn right towards the city bridge. Follow the Fv453 over the city bridge towards Hundvåg until you reach Rosenberg Verft. Turn left towards the yard and here you will most likely see signs for the center. Follow the signs.
In summary: six to seven roundabouts, bridge from downtown Stavanger (Bybrua).
All days from 08:30 to 15:30.
Lunch vary from day to day, usually between 11am and noon.
The course fee is paid with Visa / Mastercard on the first day of the course.
